Sauvage is a continuation of a series of large-scale reproductions of smaller sketches.
The luminous figure embodies Rodin’s reflections on the notion of movement as documented by his protégé Paul Gsell. In their discussions, Rodin described the representation of movement as a gesture where a figure morphs from one pose to another in a kind of dynamic metamorphosis.
