2021 | THE STRETCH | Installation: gravel (each stretch approx. 10 kg; 25 x 40 x 100 cm), entire size varying according to the exhibition space
L’étendue is an exhibition-friendly adaptation of a performance with the same title. It represents a new phase in the evolution of my drawing practice from the hand-drawn line towards a new type of materiality. The installation consists of several piles of gravel aligned on the exhibition floor at equal distances from each other.
As a prelude to the exhibition, a naked performer slides across the floor and presses her body sideways against the piles of gravel. She then departs after imprinting her contours in each pile. The absent body is no longer identifiable, its outline becomes something else: a mountainous geology bestowed with the phantasmagorical power of the body-landscape.
